PHNOM PENH: The stage has been set for a little-known son of King Norodom Sihanouk to be crowned Cambodia's next monarch after the king's surprise abdication last week.
Prince Norodom Sihamoni, 51, a former ballet dancer and former Cambodian ambassador to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) in Paris, is all but certain to be selected by a nine-member throne council, which must convene and pick a new king by tomorrow.
