JAKARTA: Megawati Sukarnoputri declined yesterday to concede defeat in Indonesia's first direct presidential election, although with most votes counted, she is too far behind to catch up with her former security minister.
In a major speech to the top legislative body of the world's fourth most populous country, she called on Indonesians to accept the results of the Monday vote, but not until the Election Commission's official announcement of the outcome, due on Oct 5.
