JAKARTA: Golkar, the old party of Indonesia's former autocrat Suharto, is scrambling to find a role for itself after two major defeats, threatening in the process to make life difficult for the country's new president.
Golkar was in high spirits when it won the most seats in Indonesia's parliamentary polls in April, but in a July first-round vote, its nominee for president failed to qualify for the run-off and it backed incumbent Megawati Sukarnoputri.
