TOKYO: Two powerful earthquakes struck western Japan yesterday, rattling several major cities and triggering tsunami waves. At least 14 people were injured, news reports said, but no damage was immediately reported.
A 6.9-magnitude quake hit western Japan shortly after 7pm local time, followed five hours later by a more powerful 7.3-magnitude temblor, the Meteorological Agency said.
