SINGAPORE: Singapore yesterday challenged a US State Department report citing the city-state as a major centre for trafficking in sex slaves, arguing that it had only two substantiated cases of forced prostitution in the last two years.
The department's annual report on human trafficking, released in June, said newly available information'' indicated that Singapore had a significant trafficking problem'' with more than 100 women and girls likely being brought in to work in the nation's sex industry each year.
