WASHINGTON: World health officials who only a few months ago were confident of controlling a fatal form of bird flu that keeps popping up in Asia are now less certain that they will be able to do so.
The virus, which has killed 27 people in Asia this year, is spreading too far and too fast to be easily contained, and adequate networks to watch for infectious diseases are not yet in place.
