TOKYO: Former world chess champion Bobby Fischer has appealed after a court here rejected his bid to halt deportation procedures from Japan, a fate he is also trying to escape by marrying a Japanese chess great.
Fischer, 61, is wanted at home in the US for violating economic sanctions against Yugoslavia and has been in detention in Japan since last month, when he was stopped at the Narita airport here as he tried to leave for Manila.
