A SPAT between China and Singapore deepened yesterday when the Chinese ambassador to Singapore suggested in published remarks that Beijing might cancel free trade talks in response to a recent visit by the city-state's incoming prime minister to Taiwan.
Ambassador Zhang Yun said negotiations on a free trade pact were scheduled for November, and added: “In view of the new developments, important bilateral exchanges will inevitably be affected,'' the Straits Times reported.
