LORRY driver Sangara Lingam Packiry, 27, who was originally charged with murdering his relative, was sentenced on Tuesday to six years’ jail and six strokes of the cane for causing grievous hurt instead.
It was the second time the charge against Sangara, a Malaysian citizen, had been reduced. Sangara was first charged with the capital offence when he was arrested in Petaling Jaya last year, after three years on the run.
