PHNOM PENH: Cambodia's King Norodom Sihanouk threatened to abdicate yesterday amid uproar over the new coalition government's plans to amend the constitution in order to get to work nearly a year after elections.
Under a coalition deal struck between Prime Minister Hun Sen and royalist leader Prince Norodom Ranariddh last week, the parties planned to amend the constitution to ensure the premier is re-elected to his position.
