DHAKA: Floods caused by heavy monsoon rains marooned up to 200,000 people in their inundated villages in north-eastern Bangladesh, officials said yesterday. A farmer drowned in the floodwaters.
Rain-fed rivers Khowai, Dhalai and Muhuri overflowed their banks this week, flooding the districts of Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Comilla, said officials at Dhaka's Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre.
