JAKARTA: A leader of Indonesia's largest Islamic body, who is now the electoral partner of President Megawati Sukarnoputri, dismissed as mere personal opinion his colleagues' edict telling Muslims not to vote for a woman, a report said yesterday.
Hasyim Muzadi, who headed the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) until he suspended his chairmanship last month to take part in the July 5 elections, said he had no plan to respond to the edict issued by several other leading NU members.
