TEHERAN: At least 12 people were killed and some 80 others injured after a strong earthquake measuring as high as 6.2 on the Richter scale struck northern Iran yesterday, state radio and television reported.
The second severe quake to hit Iran in less than six months struck at about 5pm (9.30pm in Malaysia), sparking panic in the streets of the capital and causing major damage to at least 80 villages in one of the worst hit provinces.
