BEIJING: Huge craters were punched into the blackened earth. Rail tracks were twisted and scores of buildings were flattened and scorched by fireballs. But an eerie silence prevailed when foreign aid workers visited the scene of North Korea's massive train blast.
Yesterday, a group of aid workers and diplomats invited to the scene of the disaster had yet to see any of the 161 confirmed dead and 1,300 injured and quickly moved by authorities following Thursday's disaster at the railway town of Ryongchon.
