MORE than three days after the cave-in at Nicoll Highway, rescuers were forced to call off the search for the last victim on Friday, because it had become too dangerous to carry on.
A slight movement could unsettle the unstable matrix of concrete slabs, steel beams, rubble and mud and bury rescue workers alive. If that happened, it would also endanger the surrounding area.
