COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers have admitted losing a top spy linked to the assassination of former Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi while fighting a breakaway faction, rebel sources and military officials said yesterday.
The senior intelligence operative, identified as Neelan, was shot dead by the renegade Tiger commander, V. Muralitharan, just before he called off his rebellion and fled on Monday, the pro-rebel Tamilnet.com website said.
