SEOUL: Desperate vote-grabbing tactics prompted the leader of the pro-government Uri Party to quit just days before an election that is too close to call, South Korean newspapers, rivals and analysts said yesterday.
Chung Dong-young had been under fire for off-the-cuff remarks last month that older voters should rest at home on parliamentary election day tomorrow and let young people decide the future of Asia's fourth-largest economy.
