THE number of Singaporeans suffering from tuberculosis (TB) has dropped steadily over the years, but is still much higher than in developed countries such as the United States.
TB was a dreaded word in the 1960s, when 300 out of every 100,000 Singaporeans would contract it for the first time every year, but the number has plunged to about 41 in every 100,000 last year.
