SEOUL: South Korea's main opposition party, a conservative group which used its control of parliament to impeach President Roh Moo-hyun, elected the daughter of a former military strongman as its new leader yesterday.
Park Geun-hye, 52, daughter of assassinated former president Park Chung-hee, beat five other challengers to lead the Grand National Party into a parliamentary election in just three weeks. – Reuters
