JAKARTA: Indonesia's former security minister announced yesterday that he is running for president in upcoming elections, two days after he resigned from the Cabinet of President Megawati Sukarnoputri.
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who quit because he felt sidelined by Megawati, told supporters that he was ready to face her in the country's first direct presidential elections July 5 as a candidate for the newly formed Democratic Party.
