BANGKOK: Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra replaced three top ministers yesterday after a string of recent setbacks, including the bird flu epidemic and a surge of violence in the largely Muslim south.
With a general election due in less than a year, the still popular Thaksin replaced his defence and interior ministers, both criticised for their handling of unrest in the south, where at least 40 people have been killed in the past two months.
