SEOUL: South Korea's main opposition parties took the first parliamentary step yesterday in an unprecedented attempt to impeach President Roh Moo-hyun – a move that could cause chaos weeks before a parliamentary election.
An official said enough members of the single-chamber National Assembly had signed papers to register the impeachment bill and thus place the motion before parliament.
