BANGKOK: Thai police said yesterday they had arrested nine men accused of carrying out a deadly raid on an army depot and torching 20 schools in the Muslim-majority south in attacks that heralded a wave of violence there.
Deputy police commissioner Gen Kowit Wattana said the nine were arrested on Monday and charged with mounting an insurgency, burning schools, and robbery which led to the death of others.
