BANGKOK: Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra toured Thailand's strife-torn southernmost provinces yesterday and promised to ease the unrest in the Muslim-majority region by tackling poverty.
Thaksin arrived in Narathiwat province amid tight security on Friday for a three-day visit as more violence struck the volatile region, where more than a dozen people have been killed in unrest this year.
