JAKARTA: A Supreme Court decision to overturn a corruption conviction against Indonesia's parliamentary speaker was met with widespread anger yesterday, with critics decrying it as a major setback for democratic reform.
The judge who had originally convicted Akbar Tandjung told The Associated Press that he will resign to protest the Supreme Court ruling, which also clears the way for Tandjung to run for president.
