HANOI: Asian nations moved yesterday to suspend poultry imports from the United States after bird flu was detected there, as China reported more outbreaks of the disease that has killed 18 people in the region.
About 12,000 chickens were destroyed on a farm in the north-eastern US state of Delaware, prompting Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea to slap temporary import bans on all US poultry and Hong Kong to ban poultry imports from Delaware.
