SERIOUS crimes including murder, rape and robbery jumped 5% in Singapore last year, the government said, a rise that tarnishes the city's reputation as one of the world's safest.
Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng said 33,600 “seizable offences” – offences for which a suspect can be arrested without a warrant – were recorded in the wealthy but tightly-controlled city state in 2003.
