BANGKOK: Fresh chicken, a staple of Thailand's famous cuisine, has disappeared from food markets as a killer bird flu outbreak stops the billion-dollar poultry trade dead in its tracks.
In the depleted stalls of On Nut market off Sukhumvit Road here, the vast majority of poultry vendors have given up trying to convince a fearful Thai public that their chicken is safe.
