HANOI: Vietnam celebrated the first day of its Lunar New Year festival under the shadow of a bird flu outbreak yesterday, as the World Health Organisation (WHO) urged China to release more information on possible cases of the disease.
As millions of Vietnamese prepared to usher in the Year of the Monkey with lavish family feasts, the WHO warned China that bird flu could be even more destructive than the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
