MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Detained former President Joseph Estrada told a court Monday he still wants to travel abroad for knee surgery and promised to return to continue his three-year-old trial on corruption charges.
The anti-graft court trying Estrada since his 2001 ouster approved his trip to the United States in December, but summoned him to a hearing because "the court was confused over what he really wants due to his changing declarations to the media about his travel plans,'' court spokesman Renato Bocar said.
