MANILA: The Philippines' Commission on Elections plan to trim down to five the 84 candidates who want to run for president in the upcoming May 10 polls, an official said yesterday.
Initial findings show that only opposition Senator Panfilo Lacson, former Senator Raul Roco, actor Fernando Poe Jr, businessman Eddie Gil and incumbent President Gloria Arroyo can join the race.
