MANILA: Communist guerillas vowed to intensify attacks ahead of May elections to help bring down President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's government because of her strong ties with the United States.
A spokesman for the 35-year-old Marxist insurgency also warned American troops training Filipino soldiers in counter-terrorism to stay away from rural communist strongholds or face rebel attacks.
