CHONGQING: Emergency teams capped a ruptured gas well with tonnes of sealant yesterday, cutting off toxic fumes that killed at least 198 people and forced 41,000 to flee a remote, mountainous area in southwest China, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
The disaster was China's worst recent industrial accident, leaving a 25 sq km “death zone'' strewn with bo-dies of adults and children, some overcome as they tried to escape.
