MANILA: Police stormed Manila airport's control tower yesterday, shooting dead a retired senior aviation official and an ex-navy officer to end a bizarre pre-dawn siege staged in protest at alleged government corruption.
Panfilo Villaruel, head of the Philippine Air Transport Office in the 1990s, was killed with former navy lieutenant Ricardo Gatchalian as aviation police regained control of the tower at 3am, officials said.
