COLOMBO: Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga sacked three cabinet ministers yesterday and deployed troops around key installations, setting off a political crisis after she rejected a landmark peace proposal with Tamil rebels.
Kumaratunga dismissed the defence, interior and information ministers while her political rival Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was in Washington for a meeting today with President George W. Bush on the peace process.
