Malaysian education team begins tour in China

BEIJING: A Malaysian delegation led by Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kin has begun its 11-day tour in China to promote Malaysian higher learning institutions. 

To kick off the visit, the delegation participated in the Fourth China International Education Exhibition 2003 here.  

In his speech at the opening of the expo on Friday, Hon commended China for liberalising its education sector by allowing foreign participation in the higher education market. 

“Malaysian universities and colleges should take this opportunity to co-operate with reputable Chinese institutions to encourage students to study in Malaysia.”  

The Malaysian delegation comprises officials from the Education Ministry’s private education division and representatives from higher learning institutions, including Universiti Malaya and Universiti Sains Malaysia.  

At the ceremony, three Memo- randa of Understanding were signed at the Malaysian Embassy between Inti College Malaysia and China Beijing National Education Development Ltd/The Oriental University City, Sunway College and Xian Top Rank International College, and Sedaya International College University and Yinlun Secondary School/Shida English House.
