AN anti-vice policeman has been accused of asking a Thai prostitute for free sex in exchange for alerting her to impending raids.
Siva Rajakumar, 27, a detective staff sergeant with the anti-vice branch of the Criminal Investigation Department, was brought before a district court on Friday to face three corruption charges.
He is alleged to have obtained free sexual services from Thai national Damrikarnvisan Somying, who operated out of the Ipanema World Music Bar.
The woman allegedly had sex with him on two separate days: twice on May 2, and once on June 26.
It is alleged that, in exchange for the free sexual services, Siva agreed not to report her to the anti-vice branch and to tell her about impending raids at the Ipanema World Music Bar.
The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau launched a probe in April after getting a tip-off that the policeman was supposedly protecting a mamasan. The Straits Times/Asia News Network
