KANDAHAR: Behind 4m-high walls, under the threat of a bomb attack, and without the permission of their husbands, 31 Afghan women gathered in the Taliban heartland to risk their lives in the hope of a better life.
Their unwritten manifesto is hardly radical to the western ear: they ask that they should not be sold into slavery, that they should choose who to marry and that they be offered an education.
