BANGKOK: Thailand laid formal charges yesterday against four Thais and a Singaporean suspected of belonging to the Jemaah Islamiah network blamed for a string of bombings in the region, a senior public prosecutor said.
Jaided Ponchaiya, head of the Attorney General Office's Criminal Department, told reporters the five had been charged with involvement in Jemaah Islamiah and planning attacks on foreign embassies and beaches popular with westerners.
