YANGON: In a clear snub of a United Nations envoy, Myanmar's state-run media said yesterday he shouldn't be credited for the reconciliation talks between pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi and the ruling junta.
The talks took place thanks to the ruling generals' policies – not due to efforts by the envoy, Malaysian diplomat Tan Sri Razali Ismail, said a commentary in the New Light of Myanmar newspaper.
