PHNOM PENH: The European Union's poll monitors yesterday hailed Cambodia's latest general elections as “the freest and the most democratic'' the country ever had.
The approval of Sunday's elections by the largest foreign observer group was a blow to political parties who alleged that widespread fraud and irregularities helped Prime Minister Hun Sen's party sweep to victory.
