MANILA: The Philippine president praised the police after they raided four homes here yesterday, seizing over 60 sacks of chemicals they said were destined for the country's biggest drug factory.
The police seized 64 sacks, or 3.5 billion pesos (RM247mil) worth of ephedrine – used to make methampethamine hydrochloride, known locally as syabu – from townhouses in suburban Pasay city, part of metropolitan Manila, said President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
