BANDA ACEH, Indonesia (AP) - An American reporter arrested after weeks of hiding out with rebels in the jungles of Indonesia's Aceh province began his trial Wednesday over alleged immigration violations.
Prosecutors charged William Nessen of violating the 1992 Immigration Law by abusing his journalist visa and attending meetings with separatist leaders in Aceh province who have waged a decades-long insurgency for an independent homeland.
