CANBERRA: Thai, Myanmar and Russian women are being smuggled into Australia to work for little or no pay as prostitutes, a newspaper reported yesterday, days after the country's first cases of sex slavery went to court.
The Age newspaper reported that women recruited overseas were being forced by brothel operators in the southern city of Melbourne to service up to 800 clients for virtually no pay until they have repaid the cost of their passage to Australia.
