An auction of the personal mementos of Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew yesterday raised S$2.04mil (RM4.49mil) for charity, exceeding auction house Sotheby's estimates that S$500,000 (RM1.09mil) would be achieved.
Proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Tent, a local volunteer welfare group providing a halfway house for troubled Singaporean teenage girls.
