AFTER 31 years, the ferry service to Sentosa ceased operations on Monday as the dwindling number of passengers no longer makes it viable.
When Penguin Ferry Service, the ferry operator, took over the service in 1997, it ferried 600,000 passengers a year to the resort island. Last year, only 240,000 passengers, or less than 5% of the total number of visitors to the island, opted to go there by boat.
