Experts make high-end optical fibre

CHINESE scientists have developed a new-generation high-end optical fibre, the mainstream fibre for the third generation optical fibre communications system.

Zhu Zhaozhang, general manager of the Shanghai-based Zhong Tian Technologies Fibre Optics Co, said the first batch of the optical fibre with its own patented rights had passed quality tests of the Ministry of Information Industry.

Mass production of the fibre, known as non-dispersion single mode optical fibre, had begun at the company’s production base in Nantong City of Jiangsu Province, he said. – China Daily
