TOKYO: Japanese women in their 20s and 30s are more open to staying single and less eager to have children than previous generations, according to survey results released yesterday.
The poll on family values by a national newspaper underscored changing attitudes behind Japan's record-low birth rate, which has raised concerns that the country will struggle to support its increasingly elderly population.
