SOLO (Indonesia): The Malaysian wife of a suspect in the Bali nightclub bombings was convicted yesterday of immigration violations, but prosecutors said her punishment was too lenient.Â
The court fined Faridah Abas 6,000,000 rupiah (RM2,850) for overstaying her visa. She will be allowed to remain in Indonesia and apply for a new visa.Â
Prosecutors said they planned to appeal the sentence, which could have been five years in jail in addition to the fine.Â
The woman's husband, Ali Ghufron, is an Indonesian who goes by the alias Mukhlas and is on trial for allegedly planning and arranging financing for the Oct 12, attacks that killed 202 people on the resort island of Bali. – AP Â
