TOKYO: The days of the Japanese “salaryman” wedded to his job were thought to be on the way out, with a younger generation raised in affluence said to lack the work ethics of their fathers.
But the personal lives of young company workers are overshadowed by the recession with a record percentage of newly hired employees saying they put overtime work before romance, a government agency said yesterday.
